" Do not wait to strike till the iron is hot, but make it hot by striking it "
Foreign – trained dentists aspire for better professional opportunities, and in that hope, they look towards the United States. Although they are certified in their respective countries, however, they have to undergo a whole process of applications and repeating dental school again to obtain a license to practice in the US. Most students feel that the bench test is the most difficult part that they go through during the whole process. This is expected as the clinical practices are different in different countries and they are used to their way of treating patients. After receiving an interview invite from a school, the most important thing is the student's performance in manual dexterity. I believe that all students have strong desire to succeed, the urge to reach their full potential, which are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence. It has been noted that most of the students undergo the application process more than once due to the lack of professional-looking application and a lack of dexterity in the bench exam which leads to a loss in time and an increase in their expenses. Hence, completing 1-2 week course can help them to recognize the school expectations and help them to critique their own preparations. The whole application process takes a long time and it is frustrating for the candidates, as they deal with other factors such as finances, NBDE, TOEFL etc. Approximately 1400-1600 foreign-trained dentists apply to dental schools in every cycle of applications. There should be a support system for these students which to ease the whole process. Therefore, we will create support system as a team and help students pursue their dental school dream.
